Wendi's doodles have always involved drawing a shape, then filling it up with a pattern. She moved out of margins and onto a much larger canvas when she started making quilts. She originally worked out all of her quilt designs on a large felt wall, but when she moved to Atlanta the wall didn't come with her and she started working out quilt designs on the computer. When she realized that she liked designing on the computer as much as she liked making the actual quilts, she started to create designs that were not practical for quiltmaking, but were perfect for stationery, giftwrap, and other surface design applications. Her hope is to someday bring together her love of textiles and surface design by designing a line of fabric.
